The Conspiracy of Neamathla:
An Authentic Sketch
by Washington Irving

In 1855 Washington Irving published a collection of short stories entitled Wolfert's Roost and Other Papers Now First Collected.  One of the stories, "The Conspiracy of Neamathla: An Authentic Sketch" was written from the perspective of Florida's first territorial governor, William DuVal, and Irving purported that this tale was presented in the book just as told to him by DuVal.
